Our candles are designed to burn down the center without melting the sculpted wax exterior. This is accomplished in two ways.
(1) Most candle makers string their wick into an empty mold and then fill with molten wax. When the wax cools, it shrinks and causes the wax to indent on the top. Candles must be refilled three to four times before they are fully filled. As the wax shrinks in these molds, it exerts much force onto the wick, which causes it to stretch and bend to one side. Here at Ablaze Candles, we fill our candles and let them cool completely before we insert our wick into the candle. This ensures that our wick is absolutely straight and positioned in the exact center of our candles.
(2) Before we sell any candle design, we test many wick sizes in order to obtain a perfect balance between the amount of wax that will be burned and the size of the candle that will surround the wick. This careful testing procedure determines the absolute best wick to be placed into each candle so that it will burn down the center without melting the outer design.
